Terms & Conditions
Effective date: 10 June 2025
These terms set out the conditions that apply when you bring a watch to Gearloom or enquire through our website. Please read them before submitting a piece for service. By leaving a watch with us or confirming a service in writing, you accept these terms.
1. Who We Are
Gearloom operates as a watch repair and restoration workshop at 73 Thonglor Soi 10, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand. All work is carried out or directly supervised on these premises. References to "we", "us", or "our" in these terms refer to Gearloom.
2. Accepting a Watch for Service
When you bring a watch to the workshop, we will record its condition on receipt. A service description and indicative price will be confirmed with you before any work begins. Work does not start until you have given written or verbal approval.
We reserve the right to decline any watch that falls outside our scope, requires parts we cannot reasonably source, or presents risks we consider unacceptable for the piece or the work.
3. Pricing and Payment
Prices shown on our website and quoted in correspondence are in Thai Baht (฿) and include VAT where applicable under Thai law. Indicative prices may vary once the watch is examined; any change will be communicated before work proceeds.
Payment is due on collection or delivery of the completed watch. We accept cash (Thai Baht) and bank transfer. We do not store payment card information.
If parts are required that were not anticipated at the time of the initial quote, we will notify you of the revised cost and await your approval before ordering them.
4. Turnaround and Collection
We will give you an estimated completion period when the watch is accepted. This is an estimate and not a binding deadline. Work on complex restorations may take longer than anticipated, and we will keep you informed if circumstances change.
Once we notify you that a watch is ready, we ask that you collect it within 30 days. After that period, we may charge a modest storage fee. Watches left uncollected for more than 90 days after notification will be considered abandoned, and we reserve the right to recover costs from any sale of the piece in accordance with applicable Thai law.
5. Parts and Replaced Components
All parts we replace are returned to you with the finished watch unless you instruct otherwise in writing. For Full Restoration & Documentation services, replaced parts are accompanied by a written summary identifying what was removed and why.
Where original manufacturer parts are unavailable, we will use appropriate substitutes and will inform you of this before fitting. We do not use parts we consider unsuitable for the piece.
6. Liability
We take reasonable care of every watch entrusted to us. In the event of loss or damage caused by our negligence, our liability is limited to the fair market value of the watch at the time it was received, based on a comparable comparable piece in similar condition. We strongly recommend that owners obtain their own insurance for pieces of high value.
We are not liable for pre-existing damage that was present on receipt and recorded as such, or for the failure of parts that were not replaced during the service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses of any kind.
7. Workmanship Warranty
We stand behind our workmanship. If a fault arises from work we carried out, we will rectify it at no charge within 12 months of completion, provided the watch has been kept and used under normal conditions and has not been opened, adjusted, or serviced by another party in the interval.
This covers the quality of work performed, not normal wear of consumable components such as seals and lubricants beyond their expected service life.
8. Website Use
All content on this website — text, photographs, and visual design — is the property of Gearloom or used under licence. You may view and print pages for personal reference, but you may not reproduce or redistribute content for commercial purposes without our written permission.
We are not responsible for the content of external websites linked from our pages.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Thai courts.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
