Gearloom grew out of a frustration familiar to many watch owners in Bangkok: finding a repairer who would tell you plainly what was wrong, show you what they had done, and return your watch in better condition than they found it. That frustration shaped every decision we made when we opened our Thonglor workshop.
The name reflects what we believe about mechanical watches. A timepiece that has been well cared for across generations is more than a device that tells the time — it carries the marks of every previous owner. Our work is to extend that continuity without erasing what came before.
We work on three service levels, each matched to the condition and value of the piece. A stem and crown repair needs a different pace than a full restoration, and we do not treat them the same way. Each job is assessed, described, and agreed before we begin.
Our workshop is open to walk-ins on Thonglor Soi 10. You are welcome to come in, describe the watch, and hear our honest assessment before committing to anything.

Located at 73 Thonglor Soi 10, the workshop is a compact, well-lit space equipped for mechanical movement work. Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours.

Over fifteen years working on mechanical movements from Swiss and Japanese makers. Leads all full restoration work and final timing assessments.

Service Technician
Specialises in stem, crown, and case work. Manages part sourcing and confirms component matches with owners before any fitting takes place.

Documentation & Client Liaison
Handles all written records, stage documentation, and owner communication. Ensures each client leaves with a clear record of the work carried out.
Our Working Standards
The protocols we follow on every job, regardless of service level.
Pre-Work Assessment
Every watch receives a written condition assessment before work begins. The owner reviews and agrees to the scope before we proceed.
Period-Appropriate Lubricants
We use lubricants matched to the movement era and specification. The right oil in the right place makes a measurable difference to long-term performance.
Timing Verification
Movement clean and restoration services include a timed rate check. A short timing note is provided to give the owner a reference point for future services.
Water Resistance Check
Where seals are disturbed — such as in crown and stem work — we carry out a water resistance check and replace gaskets as needed.
Parts Retention
All replaced components are retained and returned with the watch. For restoration work, each part is identified in the written summary.
Written Service Record
Restoration and full clean services include a written record of work carried out. Owners are encouraged to keep this with the watch for future reference.
Watch Repair and Restoration in Bangkok
Gearloom sits in Thonglor, one of Bangkok's more considered neighbourhoods, and has become a point of reference for owners of mechanical and automatic watches across the city. Our clients come from Watthana, Khlong Toei, Sukhumvit, and further afield — drawn by the kind of workshop that will talk through a problem before charging for its solution.
The work we do ranges from a straightforward crown replacement on a daily wearer to a full strip-down and documentation of an inherited pocket watch. Between those extremes sits our movement clean and lubricate service, which suits watches that run acceptably but have not been serviced in some years. In each case, the process is the same: assessment first, agreement on scope, careful work, and a written note at the end.
Bangkok has no shortage of watch repair services, but fewer that document their work and return the parts they replace. Those two things matter particularly to collectors and to anyone who has inherited a watch with its own story. The record we provide is not a formality — it is part of the service itself.
